WALT:Write a prediction for what a story might be about based on the given keywords

There were two girls named Lili and Ana. lili liked delivering circulars and Ana was always in the  buggy. Today  they took off in a hurry, they were running around the streets like mad until they reached a particular house, they knew they would get paid here. Then Lili put the buggy’s brakes on.  “Sorry girls, I got sick, lost my job and it's bad, I’m really sorry but I can't pay you today.”the man at the door cried

“No worries and I am very sorry you lost your job and got sick.” Lili said solemnly.

WALT: Evaluate our prediction after reading the story (Junkmail by Prue Hilson, Pt3, No.3, 1995)

I give my prediction a 1/10. I predicted correctly that people deliver circulars however I predicted that two girls went up to a man's house and he said that he got sick and lost his job that part was wrong.

Where am I describing?

Where am I describing?

It is awake 24/7.
You can shop here.
You put your bags on a conveyor belt.
I see a sign in capital letters that says WHITTAKERS..
An elevator takes me up to my destination.
“Bye” people say sorrowfully, as they leave.
The doors open and you wait for an hour to board your vehicle.
There are lots of places to eat before you go.
The crew help you  get ready to board.
There is a long line till you hop onto your mode of transportation.
Where am I describing?

My colour poem

Pink
What does pink look like?
Pink looks like a cupboard.

What does pink sound like?
Pink sounds like ice in a pink lemonade shaking.

What does pink taste like?
Pink tastes like refreshing bubble gum in my mouth.

What does pink feel like?
Pink feels like a soft flamingo having a nice warm drink in the lake.

What does pink smell like?
Pink smells like a cold strawberry ice cream on a hot tropical day.

What does pink remind me of?
Pink reminds me of bright pink paint running down a piece of artwork

My book review

My book review
‘Gangsta Granny’ is by David Walliams and the illustrator is Tony Ross. David Walliams has put lots of sophisticated words in the story.

David Walliams has also put lots of funny words and lots of adjectives. Tony Ross has put lots of interesting and entertaining pictures which will make everybody laugh.

‘Gangsta Granny’ is about a little boy named Ben and he thinks his Grandma is boring but he finds out that she is actually a robber. He knows his grandma wants to steal the crown jewels from the queen.

My favourite character is granny because she tricks Ben and makes him think she is boring.

Most peoples favourite part of the book is when the neighbor, Mr Parker comes and spies on grandma and Ben. Granny tries to do yoga on one foot while she is naked.

I like the book because it is humorous and interesting. I would recommend this book to everyone.

The star rating I would give it is five out of five. Overall Gangsta Granny is an amazing book and everyone who reads it will love it just like me.

My BFF Krisha

My BFF Krisha
My BFF krisha is super cool because she remembers everything and helps everyone. One not very cool thing about her is that she argues a lot. Sometimes she can be interesting but my friend Krisha is the best. She also is very nice and caring and never gives up. If something is hard she says I haven't got it yet. Whenever I go to gymnastics on Thursdays she says “I will come and watch you to see how well you do”. After gymnastics she always says very good or well done. Krisha is the best.

An outstanding speech Sanah.  It was well written and you were very prepared.  You showed confidence by having good eye contact and speaking at an appropriate volume.  Your next step is to slow down and speak at a slower pace.

I chose Mr Bainbridge on my money note because he is the best teacher in the whole wide world. My serial number is AA346758. One of my security features is the tukutuku panel because it has one on every note.

George's Grandma

George’s grandma

Is your grandma nice, helpful, playful, happy and loving? Well if she is she is certainly different to george’s unkind grandma.

George’s Grandma doesn’t smile very often but when she does she only smiles an icy smile that makes George want to run far, far away from that old hag.

Inside grandma’s mouth is a whole new disgusting world. She has pale brown teeth and a very disgusting breath.

Grandma always says that “you should always grow down instead of up.” Grandma says you should eat beetles, slugs, earwig, snail’s and one thing George absolutely hates and that is cabbage.

She says cabbage makes you grow the right way it makes you grow down and chocolate makes you grow up.

Now if only there was a type of medicine that could change that terrible disgusting old hag?

My annoying brother

My annoying brother

My big brother Mihir is really annoying. Whenever I am at my grandmas I have to sleep on the floor all because of his allergies and if he has a day of school the next day he says you can’t have ice cream because you have school tomorrow and its way past your bedtime. I mean whose brother does that. Well certainly my brother. Another annoying thing about him is that since he has his own phone he puts his alarm on and every morning it rings at 6 o’clock and he does not wake up so I have to wake him up so he does not get late for school. I know every morning at 6 o’clock.

How to make Coconut Cream

Coconuts are a key ingredient in Samoan cooking. Every part of the coconut is used. You can eat the flesh raw or use it for cooking, you can drink the juice, the shell makes a handy cup or, together with the husks, you can fuel a cooking fire. The most widely used product from the coconut is coconut cream, so let me describe how the cream is traditionally made.

You will need
  1. Coconut/Popo
  2. Knife
  3. Scraper
  4. Coconut husk
  5. Bowl

Method

  1. Gather all your equipment
  2. Using the back of your knife strike the coconut in half. Rotate the coconut as you strike it. But remember to strike it in the middle.  Be careful.
  3. Pour the coconut water into a bowl
  4. Get your scraper and start scraping the coconut. As you scrape it rotate the coconut.
  5. Get your husk (tauaga) and put your flesh in the husk. Get your leftover water and put it into the husk too. Close the husk and squeeze tightly. Now you have some yummy cream.
  6. If you have leftover coconut you can feed it to the chicken or give it to the pigs. With the leftover coconut shell you can use it in the in the fire as wood.
Now you can make coconut cream for samoan language week.

Year 4 school camp

Dear Mrs Ritchie

I am writing to you to express my opinion about why year 4’s should also go to camp.

You may believe that year 4 students are too young or immature to go to camp. However I disagree because activities such as archery and kayaking will help us develop and practise skills

For example an activity such as archery would develop our aim for sports like dodgeball and it will also help you be safe around sharp objects.

Kayaking will also teach you to be water safe and will teach you not to give up.  It will also help you practise your swimming skills in the sea if your kayak tips over.

As you can see if year 4s go camping they can learn a lot about the outdoors.

Please consider these ideas carefully and I look forward to hearing back from you

Kind regards
Sanah

The soldier

The soldier

Here I am standing in a field of poppies.
Lots of soldiers being killed.
Other soldiers go and take them to the hospital.
Then I hear the whistle and quickly put on my mask.
I see someone looking like they’re drowning in the sea.
Then suddenly he falls down.
I am very solemn because one of my friends died of the poisonous gas.

Photographer Letter

Dear photographer,

I am writing to you to you to express my opinion about the way you take and arrange the class
photographs.

Obviously I really admire the red background with the boys and girls seated or stood. I like it because we stand out against the background.

I like how you organise the children in size, such as tallest to shortest because it looks like you have thought about how to make the photo better.

Most people like the hall of fame setup in the hall on the display board because if parents come, they can see their children in the photo.

Ofcourse I admire how you make the children say a word to make them smile for the photo.

I’m absolutely certain that you should read my ideas before you reply.  You might or might not agree about my opinion. Please reply soon.

Yours sincerely,
Sanah Raniga

A letter from Gallipoli

A letter from Gallipoli

27th April 1918

Dear Mihir,
Here I am in Gallipoli and not very comfortable.  My war will start tomorrow at dawn.  The soldiers have  rifles in their hands that make me scared,  but I remember what you said "It may look scary, but I know you are very brave, come back home".

There are a lot of flies around here and it is very hot. By the way thank you for the delicious  biscuits.  Hopefully a lot of people will not get shot tomorrow.  I have a very big gun that can shoot miles away and I carry lots of extra bullets in my bag in case I run out of bullets while I’m shooting.  At night I hear a lot of creepy noises like people getting their guns ready for war.  Tomorrow I am going to hide behind a trench so I don’t get shot like you said.  Hope to see you soon.

From your loving sister Sanah

The Waka

Waka
“Ka mate Ka mate” is bellowed tremendously loudly from the rowing warriors. The warriors strong arms row as the wavy water splashes onto the waka.  The tough Maori men’s tattoos are a blur of  of black ink as they keep on rowing.

The red paint on the bottom of the waka is like the spilled blood of a warrior.  One of the ferocious men beside me shout “Tahi rua toru wha” we need to keep on rowing our waka to get to the island for our battle against our enemies.

The Wharenui

After reading not just a house I created a labelled drawing of a Wharenui.
