Alpine habitats

An Alpine habitat is in the mountains above the area where trees grow. Lots of animals have adapted to these harsh areas.

A large range of animals lives up in the Alpine environment like; Rock Wren, Kea, Pipit,Takahe, Great Kiwi and Lizards.
Threats

There are lots of predators for example; Possums and Mice. All those predators have adapted to the Alpine habitat.
Facts about Alpine habitats
  1. In NZ there’s an Alpine area that is about 30,3000 square kilometres. (That’s about 11%of the country).
  2. Alpine biomes are usually at an altitude of around 10,000 feet high or more.
