An Alpine habitat is in the mountains above the area where trees grow. Lots of animals have adapted to these harsh areas.

A large range of animals lives up in the Alpine environment like; Rock Wren, Kea, Pipit,Takahe, Great Kiwi and Lizards.
Threats
There are lots of predators for example; Possums and Mice. All those predators have adapted to the Alpine habitat.
Facts about Alpine habitats
- In NZ there’s an Alpine area that is about 30,3000 square kilometres. (That’s about 11%of the country).
- Alpine biomes are usually at an altitude of around 10,000 feet high or more.
